Candle Safety

For the safe use of your candles, please follow the following guidelines:

  • Remove all packaging before lighting your candle
  • Place your candle on a protected, heat resistant surface.
  • Ensure there is ample headroom for the heat from the flame.
  • Ensure your candle is placed away from draughts, other heat sources and any flammable objects or materials.
  • When using candles indoors, keep out of direct sunlight.
  • Keep candles well away from children and pets.
  • When lighting your candle, ensure that no foreign matter drops into the candle as this is combustible material and the candle may flare up causing a fire hazard. It can also cause your candle to burn quicker.
  • Container candles in glass or tins, etc, will become hot to touch, so extra care is required to allow the container to cool down.
  • When using pillar candles, burn to 25mm tall. Continuous burning thereafter is a fire hazard.
  • Stand pillar candles on a heat resistant surface or suitable candle plate.
  • If your candle begins to smoke, extinguish the flame, allow to cool and trim the wick.
  • Outdoor candles are only for use outdoors and must never be used indoors.
  • When burning multiple candles, please leave 100mm between each candle when burning.
  • If your candle has a lid, ensure that candle is extinguished before replacing the lid.
  • It is normal for candles in containers to have some wax left on the sides of the container due to fragrance, environment and burning conditions.
